Streaming App: Enjoy fun and entertainment anytime, anywhere, available on iOS and Android platforms.
Background
Design overhaul for the app's latest version, aiming to enhance both its user experience and visual appeal. The brief called for a refreshed visual design with dynamic elements and obvious interactive features. Additionally, the design needed to incorporate recommendations, showcasing the app's best content while maintaining simplicity and glorification, which are core brand values. The new design simplifies interactions, reduces hierarchical structures, and ensures ease of interpretation, learning, and use.
What did i do?
I worked remotely from New Zealand, forming a two-member team with our Chief Design Officer. We occasionally enlisted the help of a contractor when additional assistance was required.
The majority of the workload was managed independently by me. For in-person engagements, I travelled to India as needed, while the Chief Design Officer remained onsite to manage stakeholders, give presentations and make marketing strategies
We engaged in constant brainstorming sessions and strategy development. Facilitated design workshops with developers and stakeholders
These workshops involved thorough analysis of research findings, development of a new design vision, creation of wireframes, rapid user testing, and iterative design based on feedback
Following the launch of our app's initial version, we engaged an agency to conduct user surveys and in-depth research. This aimed to gain insights into user motivations and current pain points, with the goal of improving both sales and after-sales services. Subsequently, we reassessed our design strategies through the following activities:
Big Ideas
Glorify
In India, fans hold stars in high regard, often worshipping them. To embrace this cultural charm, we decided to glorify the stars within the app. We opted to feature large, beautiful, curated photos of the heroines and heroes, aiming to evoke heartfelt moments for the fan
Celebrate
In India, film enthusiasts, particularly fans, wholeheartedly embrace the cinematic experience both in and out of theatres, fostering a lively fan culture. Filmmakers organise events like 'release day' and 'fan shows' marked by fireworks, music, and spirited dancing. Inside theatres, fans participate by whistling, dancing, and tossing confetti, enhancing the thrill and enjoyment of the film experience.
We endeavoured to recreate this festive ambience within our app by gamifying it. Users accrue crackers and whistles as they watch, which can be used while watching films and scenes, and receive rewards like wallpapers showcasing their beloved stars.

Navigation and IA
Fastfilmz, catalogue of movies available for users to enjoy, representing the core offering that users pay for and engage with. Our primary objective is to deliver the most captivating and immersive experience possible.
To achieve this, we've departed from traditional hamburger menu structures. Instead, we've opted for full-screen posters as menus, simplifying navigation and providing multiple pathways for users to discover the right content - Content is the King

Developed all screens, for iOS and Android, ensuring consistency, clarity, and visual appeal across the app's user interface. Delivered the screens to developers via Zeplin, facilitating seamless collaboration and ensuring accurate implementation of the design through detailed specifications, assets, and reviews
